Question 96' LT1 m6 Parking Brake Adjustment ---

My parking brake has always been hard to pull up, but it would work good.

The other day I pulled up on the handle and I heard a spring "boing" type sound with no resistance, and it pulled up further than normal.

I put the handle back down and back up and it felt normal ... but now it doesnt hold the car (the car rolls and squeaks like it wants to grab)

What side of the car in the rear is the parking brake on?

How do you adjust it?

Is there a chance that the pads are worn ... and are they easily replaceable?

Thanks ---

You may have snapped a cable. Both rear brakes provide the parking brake. A single cable goes from the handle to under the car where it splits into two cables (one to each rear brake).

How do you adjust it if the cables are fine?

Does it use the rear disc brakes, or does it have a separate set of pads?

Thanks for the info ---

It uses the disc brakes. Find out what is wrong before asking more questions. The brakes rarely need adjustment, but there is a procedure on my Tech Page.

shbox: I just spend a few hours putting in a dorman brand cable only to find it sits 2" farther back then the one previously on the car. Do you think I got the wrong part? its part C94725 this is the one from the equalizer to the parking brake

UPDATE: I yanked on the equalizer gained the slack I needed and connected each cable, works perfectly hopefully I wont have to do it again
