96 trans am steering rack

does the engine have to be removed or lifted to change the steering rack if so or not what has to be removed to complete this project?

I replaced mine not too long ago. The steering rack will come right out, nothing extra has to be removed.

Steering rack bolts to the front of the K member; no need to move engine. Disconnect power steering hoses, unbolt steering "coupler" from steering shaft, and disconnect outer tie rods from steering knuckles.

What everyone else said. There's two big bolts in the K-member, the two power steering lines, and tie rod ends to remove, than slide it out.
