Abs Inop

just got done putting the mods in that are in my sig.......yesterday i didn't see it on, but tonight it came on probably like 10 seconds after I put it in drive......doesn't come on right when I start the car, and if I let it idle for about 1 minute or so it never comes on.......but as soon as I put it in drive, a few seconds later it pops on and stays on. Nothing seems out of the ordinary, as far as driving goes....I don't feel any problems. WTH? Thanks in advance!

get it scanned, sounds like you have a bad wheel speed sensor

Re: Abs Inop

Dirt, corrosion, deteriorated wiring, buildup of metal particles.

Re: Abs Inop

So how do I go about checking to see if that is indeed the problem and therefore, fixing it?

Re: Abs Inop

You could try pulling each sensor harness connector and cleaning the connection, checking for frayed wires. Try blowing the dirt out of the sensors with high pressure air. Pull the rear sensor and check for metal particles built up on it. Look for ways excessive moisture can get into the sensor.

But the best way is to do what Dave suggested and have the EBCM module scanned for codes. That will give you a very specific answer.

OK, so it really should be nothing major, right? Like nothing too high-cost to fix?

You can do it yourself if you have a jack and and jackstand. Just pull the front wheel off.

You can reference off this thread: http://web.camaross.com/forums/showthread.php?t=454703

Re: Abs Inop

You say you just put in 3.73 gears so the rear abs sensor seems like a logical place to start.

Re: Abs Inop

Well, updated news to report: drove the car to work this morning......didn't see anything. Just got home from work.......didn't see anything the whole ride home.

Puzzling, indeed. Although I do remember last summer that ABS light came on once, but never was to reappear again until last night.
