ABS Light

Anyone know how to see what part of my ABS system failed? The light came on today and I know it isn't my ground wire as I CAN lock my brakes up.

This is prolly going to hurt the ol' wallet I am sure....

Re: ABS Light

the ABS sucks on our cars in my opinion, its most likely your connector by your steering knuckle.

Re: ABS Light

A dealer can read the EBCM computer with a Tech 2 scanner. That will tell you what the problem is. Faulty wheel sensors, dirty or looses sensor connectors, metal particles on the rear sensor, can all cause the "ABS INOP" light.

Re: ABS Light

You can't use an "engine" scanner.... they just read the PCM. There may be some other high end scanners that will read the EBCM and airbags, but they are very expensive.... hard to find anyone that has one.

Re: ABS Light

Okay, well if thats the case, to the dealer I go....

I wasn't thinking an engine scanner would work, but I didn't know if this other scan tool was readily available elsewhere as I really hate to have the dealership charge me $60 to tell me what part it is, as I believe I will probably buy that part and put it in myself.

Paying $60 for that ain't worth it....thats what this board is supposed to be for

....but I want ABS so I'll do it....

Well, I searched and read all night last night and went out today with some starter fluid and some wire and found out that my primary on my passenger side header burned those two sensor wires. I re-routed it straight up the firewall by the heater core to avoid further problems and that solved my issue.

I then cleaned all the sensors with starter fluid since I had already set the time aside to do it.

Working just peachy now.
