Re: aftermarket brakes worth it?

thank you everyone for your 2 cents. i thought i would need major improvements from stock ls1 brakes. i wasnt too happy on how they faded from top speed to 55mph. but i guess you cant have it both ways at that point.

I am waiting for my Brembo sloted rotors and Earls lines. I will be getting new pads as well(dauh), this should be a big improvment over stock, right?

Will 16" wheels fit over the C5 kit or do you have to have 17's

Joe.

You NEED 17" wheels. Almost all 17" wheels fit.

The problem is finding the required Bob Bishop adaptor bracket.

Everything I read on this Message Board leads me to believe that the Bob Bishop adaptors have stopped being created. Does anyone know of a source that new F-Body enthusiasts can track some down or at least someone who makes a similair bracket?

Thanks in advance for the info.

Re: aftermarket brakes worth it?

Alot of us LT1 guys use LS1 brakes as an upgrade so consider that before you spend any money. Like stereomandan said, stainless lines and new pads would help. There is a GP going on at www.frrax.com for a new batch of Bob BIshop brackets, also someone who bought a set before might need to sell them to pay bills like I had to .

z2896, where on frrax.com can I find this GP. I would love to pick up a set of these brackets. If you could let me know, it would be greatly appreciated.

I'm on frrax and I don't believe there is a group purchase going. Bob has said that he is done making the brackets, from what I understand.

Re: aftermarket brakes worth it?

does somebody have the prints for the brackets? I have friends in the machining business and could probably have them make them for me.

Re: aftermarket brakes worth it?

I read that there was one going on unless it ended. I just saw Bob Bishop group purchase a few weeks ago.

There for sure is NOT a group purchase happening. There is the possibility that Kevin at www.frrax.com will start to make the Bob Bishop brackets, with Bob's design and approval. It's still up in the air though.

Re: aftermarket brakes worth it?

Another vote for aftermarket brakes. I had purchased a set of drilled/slotted rotors for my cavie. That car would almost throw me through the windshield when I slammed on em. Of corse you had to break them first. Never warped, but I did have a problem w/ tapered pad wear
