Question Any idea what this is?

I've had a popping noise occur when I've had to turn sometimes, usually at low speeds. It seemed to go away after awhile. Well I had begun to hear it again, and when I had my windows rolled down, I would swerve back and forth to try and hear it, and it was a loud pop comming from the drivers side front, usually only when I turned hard right. When I was almost home tonight I tried it once more so I could get a better idea of what was happening, and when I swerved right, I heard this loud BANG. I get home and look in the wheel well and see this bracket hanging around, I reach in there and pull it out. I took a few pics

This is on the drivers side front. I found the bracket sitting in there like this.

I reached in there and pulled it out and this is what it looked like.

There were two bolt holes but the bracket wasn't held in by anything that I could tell, other than the bottom hole, which looks as if it was ripped away from whatever it was attached to

I'm hoping it's still safe to drive as this is my only car. Help me out guys.
Thanks

Re: Any idea what the hell this is?

Not sure what it is for.. possibly the swaybar? A-arm??? either way until you find out for sure what it is for. I would NOT drive that car. as it could be a very unsave thing..

Think it used to be on the stud side of the sway bar bracket. If the car's ever been worked on, it usually gets bent to remove the sway bar, then later does what you describe.

Jack it up, put a jack stand under it, then take a look. Should be fine.

If thats the case then that is awesome, because I don't know any reputable shops around here, so finding one would be a pain! I'm going to jack up the car first thing tomorrow. Thanks for the input.
