Needing some new pads for the car and was wondering what works well. Looking for something low dust. Checked into the greenstuff pads but don't really want to spend $80. Also been looking at the Hawk ceramic pads (expensive too). I found the ceramic autozone pads for around $38. Has anyone had these pads? If so, how well do they perform and are they low-dust? Any other recommedations are welcome too.

i'm running morse ceramic on my ls1 brake upgrade on my third gen and there is almost no dust and they work fine

autozones "performance friction" pads are a little more, like 50 bucks or so, they claim low dust, but semi-metallics always dust, and they stop really well

Less dust = less bite
I have Thermoquiets and I hate that about them. I'd rather have more dust than less brake.

there is no direct correlation between the amount of dust produced and braking effectiveness

I have been selling auto parts for 3 years and I have found the O'reilly's Wagner thermoquites to be good (good bite and no dust) and I've heard the Bendix pads should be equal. I have used the Thermoquites in my LT1 '84 for about a year and now about to try the bendix only because I got a deal.

I have bosch ceramics. up front. They work fairly good. Lifetime warranty were just over 50$ and stop pretty good. I would like to point out that the reason that ceramics dust less is that their dust is a different color (white ithink) and it doesnt cling to things as much. I also believe that it is a lot smaller or something like that. Its not that they dont produce dust.

Raybestos Ceramics front and semi metallic rear.... No probs here..
But I can tell the difference on ceramics and semi metallic up front.... semis' have more bite...

Do yourself a favor and get some hawk pads online. Autozone pads are not bad, but compared to hawk pads, they blow. It is a night and day difference in stopping power when i switched.

Ya, too bad more agressive pads dust more then less agressive pads. This isn't a new concept.

Granted there are the cheap generic pads that dust like mad and aren't that great.

Good bite at slow speeds, but try them out after they get warmed up. I usually run 70-85 mph (sometimes faster) to and from work and they hate when I have to stop hard. I've smelled them cook a couple of times. They've been on the car for about 1.5 years now. I'll be pulling them off before much longer.

I've got a set of a newly designed compound kevlar pads on the way from some new manufacturer, I'll let you know what I think of them.

Curious, but what would happen if they magnetised the back of a brake pad? Could that collect dust particles to stay on the Pad itself instead of flinging all off to the wheel? Or atleast minimise brake dust?

Another vote for the Hawks. I've had mine for almost three years now (don't drive the car much) and they are awsome. They BITE.
