backhalf, ladder bars, framerails, i need answers please

i am back halfing my car and going with a ladder bar set up, i have cut out the floorpan from 6 inchs behind the sub frame connectors( just to be on the safe side and not cut to much) to the rear of the car and wheel tub to wheel tub, my question is where exactly do i weld in the the rear cross member at,,,, the are to sub frames there, and inner and outer you have the one that the sub frame conector and lca bolts to i am calling this the outer and the other that im calling the iner is the stock fraerail that goes to the rear of the car,,,do i cut the inner out and weld the cross member of the new frame rails to the outer or just weld to the small portion left over of the stock frame rail, i have not seend any documentation or photos that clarify this enough, can any of you guys clarify this for me or havea link to some specific intructions? thanks in advance guys

Get someone who has done it before to come over and help you. Its critical for that stuff to be square and everything has to be right.

Do you have a rear and tires? you need those first

go to ls1tech.com in the drag racing section.....a few people have done it and have some good detailed threads with lots of pics also. That would help you more than here I think.

I have helped on a few cars and I had a 3rd gen with a 4 link but they had tubes going to the front. Right behind the drivers seat was a 2x3 going side to side the main hoop went to and the rear frames were mandrel bent(I think from S&W) the rest was simple once you get the 2 rails in. Also mine was jacked out in the middle 8 inches and fitted for a 35 but it had 33's on it.

Might be a good idea to at least mention what year chassis you are asking about.

Does the back half have to be certified in your racing application?
