Best rear Lower Control bushings for a 93 z-28 Street touring hard driven car.

I was wanting some feedback on which bushings are the best for my Z-28 . I am looking at UMI's Roto-Joints on both ends or Spohn's Del-Sphere on both ends These would be their adjustable LCA's . Any help would be great. Thanks.

IMO, I prefer the roto-joints; fewer parts, less to to go wrong.

Other then that there both almost the same.

Thanks Bluz28 for your input. Does anyone else have any experience with these, good or bad? I do not see that the Del-Sphere design is weaker just because it has a few more parts. It is like a regular Rod End design, and no one talks about them being weak. May be a plus if you need to move the LCA inboard for larger tires. You can use different lengh spacers on either side of the ball in the Del-Sphere or a Rod end. You could not do that as easy with the Roto-Joint. Also, the Roto-Joint had to have a set screw added to keep them from unscrewing and coming apart. Surely ,some more people has tried this setup. Lets hear what you think. Thanks.

I went with the Spohn as it is a single casting versus a casting with a welded on stud (UMI.) May not be as big a possible issue with the rear LCAs as they do not take the whole load of the car like the fronts do but I did not feel comfortable relying on weldment up front.

Thanks Pgerst. Your reasons sound good to me. I like the one piece housing also. I just would like some feedback on some useage of either type. Thanks.

Re: Best rear Lower Control bushings for a 93 z-28 Street touring hard driven car.

I would describe my driving style similar to yours and use the car on the street. I like them (though my wife not so much.) I have the del-sphere or the "regular" delrin bearings depending on location (the upper fronts are delrin bearing). I also have some rod ends on the rear (watts link).

For all practical purposes, they are rod ends. You may not notice much of a change in ride quality if you only do the rear lcas but if you use them throughout, you will have pretty much a race suspension. As there is virtually no deflection (versus stock or poly bushings), handling response is much more precise and transitions are quicker from stock (more so from worn out stock). "Downside" (from my wife's viewpoint) is you will feel (and the car will react) to road surface and irregularities much more. Again my impression is from having them (or equal stiffness) everywhere on the car.

J&M makes some LCA's that offer great articulation, plus there quiet, and very affordable.
You can also get some DKt performance LCA's w/johnny-joints, there even better and fully rebuildable.
