brake noise normal?

Just replaced front pads and rotors with Hawk HPS and Brembos. The brakes worked fine on some 30->0 trial stops, but when I first hit the pedal there's a "thump" and during breaking there's a "thupita thupita thupita" type noise. Does this sound like usual noise from new rotors and pads mating, or is something screwed up?

Re: brake noise normal?

Yes I have ABS, but this sound is different from the ABS sound (I know what that sounds like).

Suppose I could take the caliper off and reinstall it and make extra sure it's all tightened down properly.

Re: brake noise normal?

The thump is not normal, but when I installed my Powerslot rotors and Hawk pads I had a wierd sound from the brakes for a day or so. Not sure how to describe it but I'm pretty sure it was from the pads hitting the slots.

Re: brake noise normal?

It turns out the caliper was loose . Tightened it down and it's working perfectly.
