Brake pads

I'll be replacing my brake pads soon (95 Z28 MM6) and was wondering who may have some input on a good set to use and where to get them.

I'm also getting a mid-range moan, in or out of gear, that chages with the speed. I can't tell where it's coming from. A wheel bearing perhaps?

...Does anyone know who could replace my sparkplugs and wires for free?

I have had good luck with pads called "Wagner Thermo Quiet" I have only bought them from O'reillys, not sure if they have them other places or not.

And your a free spark plug change.....look no further.....

i recently put on

some cheap Autozone (or Advanced?? can't remember) ceramic pads. Cost about $45 for the front.

Appear to be working well, and there is NO dust.

Can't believe I didn't do it sooner.

+1 for brake section.

I see alot of guys run Hawk pads. If you want some improvement, do an LS1 conversion (not too expensive) with new pads and rotors.

Ceramic....havn't thought of using those. Do they wear down the rotors more than standard pads?

white97/TA.....I know I'll be doing it myself, everyone has dreams of getting free work

Whatever you do, dont buy Duralast! I bought the Duralast Gold pads, and had to grind down the guide ears slightly to get them to fit! Next pad change is gonna be Hawk for me (C5 brake upgrade hopefully ).

As for doing the spark plugs and wires? I hope you have small hands and a lot of patience. A lift helps too.

Yeah I eventually also will be upgrading to c5 brakes, its so cheap to do compared to the bigfger brake companies

There was a link that had every part number needed to change to C5 brakes, but I lost it, may be someone will post it up?

And as for wires, 20 minutes on driver side.....5 hours passenger....I didnt have a lift.....

Enjoy

I had thermo quiets on my SS. I took them off pretty quick because they faded easily for me. If you like the stock pads then Themoquiets and the others mentioned are ok.

If you want better braking then step up to Hawk HPS or Axxis Metal Master.

Remember to do a fluid the flush with your pad change. Fresh brake fluid makes a noticable difference and is much too overlooked.
