brake question

i just replaced my rear brakes and after i put the new pads on , i have hardly any brake pressure, and my 'brake' light is on, on my dash.

i tried bleeding the lines, but that didnt seem to fix it

i have to push the brake pedal almost to the floor to get it to stop

any ideas?

Lightbulb Re: brake question

Is the ABS light on?
When I put pad's on my car front or rear I "allways open the bleeder screws".
I never push the brake fluid back into the master.
You could have damaged the ABS pump.
More information on the camaro would probley help
to get people to chime in on it.

Re: brake question

i've had the ABS light on for over 6 months...
i opened the bleeder screws, and had my friend pump the brakes and then had him hold the brake pedal down and then i put the bleeder screw back in

Re: brake question

You have air in your lines. Start with bleeder closed. Have someone press on brake pedal. Open bleeder a little. When brake pedal is down as far as it will go close bleeder before he lets brake pedal up. Put a clear hose on the bleeder and you will see the air bubbles come out and when there are no more bubbles. If you let the brake pedal up with the bleeder open you will suck air into the line. Make sure you don't let your master run dry or you will get air in the system. Continue to bleed the brakes and put new fluid into the master untill the fluid coming out of the bleeder is clean and free of bubbles.

If your abs light has been on 6 months it is probably a sensor or computer problem and not related to the brake work you have done.
