Brakes are hopping?

Well whenever I put on my brakes my car sorta feels like it is hopping to a stop. I hope someone knows what I'm talking about because I don't want to feel like a gigantic douche for saying that. Any ideas what's wrong?

Do you mean just under normal braking? Or under heavy braking?

If it's a "pulsing" feeling, causing a vibration/shaking/shudder in the car, it's almost certainly due to warped rotors. Often it's more noticable or pronounced when braking at highway speeds, but you can usually feel it even right down to a slow stop. In this case, you can try to have the rotors turned (machined) to make them straight again, and as long as they still remain at or above the minimum thickness, you're safe . Or, it's time for a trip to the local auto parts store for a new set .

Now, if you're talking about WHEEL HOP under heavy braking, that's a whole different issue!

It's under normal braking it just isn't smooth at all. I really hope it's not rotors but maybe it's time to get some drilled and slotted rotors, deal with all this brake fade I get

You can get relatively cheap blank rotors, so I don't know why that's a big concern?

If you're fading your brakes on the street though, how hard are you driving your car?! If you're NOT driving it hard, then you need to flush your brake system and start with fresh fluid, 'cause your fluid is done!

Heck, I hardly get any fade on the race track with my car!!

Sorry it's hard to pick up on sarcasm even with the little face lol yeah I've never had brake fade ever I'm scared to drive my poor car hard since it has 172,xxx miles on it. How much is it for a set of rotors and do I need front and back ones?

Typically it is the fronts that warp, try those first.
