budget brake upgrade

98 Z28 looking for more brake power. I replace lines with Russell stainless steel kit. I want to do the Z51 conversion but after reading decided that I should upgrade to larger rotors but keep my stock calipers for budget reasons, will this be possible. I thinking this set up will work minus the calipers

That looks like the Team Chevy list that is floating around here. Looks good, minus the caliper brackets and pads. I can't remember if you need longer brake lines for the LS1 though. You will also need 17" rims to clear the new brakes, unless you have them already.

I got 18 C6 wheels. I want to run the z06 rotor with my stock ls1 caliper. is this possible. also my friend tells me I only need the abutment brackets and the rotors, all the hardware is the same?
