Bump Stops making me loose.. Question.

I was told that the bump stops int eh back of my car are causing most of my suspension problems. Yes, the Pro-Kit isn't the greatest, and the SLP Bilstiens aren't that good either.. Hind sight is 20/20.. But anyway..

Are there any ill effects of eliminating the bump stops in the back? I'm about an inch off of them when the car is just sitting and I was told that THAT would cause my car to be so loose. Can I just chop them? My buddy has the same shock and spring combo on his 02 SS, but his feels SOOO much tighter than mine. I was told that the SS's have a different bump stop in the back.

Riding on the bumps eliminates the susp system in the rear, making it rock hard. -True?

i have been told before on this site not to remove them but i dont know why. i removed them on my buddies t/a with no ill effects, and yes if you are hitting the bump stop the whole geometry of you suspension will be off along with rock hard

^ Hmmm.... I don't want to scrape my tires.. I think I may just chop them down.. Take a measurement of how much I can sink the wheels into the wells, and transfer that measurement to the bump stops to find out how much I can loose.

oh yeah i also rolled the fenders a bit to accomadate 315's and never really had a problem with scraping.

but now that i think about it cutting them down may have been a better option

^ I rolled my fenders also.. I'll have to take a close look to see how close I actually am from scraping anywhere else in the wheel well. THe offset on the Rebels is kind of odd, so it's not like the typical F-Bod wheel.

EDIT: Look what I found on the other board.. Quite the opposite of what I was told by an Auto X champ.. -not Strano.

Lowering the car also puts you closer to the bump stops. Hitting the bump stops is normal; hitting them hard and often will cause a rough ride. This is often one of the major causes of the rough ride on a lowered car. Getting rid of the SS/WS6 bump stops and changing them out for the V6/Z28 bump stops can help. Removing them is not usually the right answer since the next thing you hit will be solid and can really make the ride rough (if you don't break something instead).
