C5 brakes on rear of LT1?
I have C5 brakes sitting at home that i plan to install when i get home i have fronts and backs. Now i seen Jason D's page here: clicky
It says that all you have to do is trim the anti-rattle spring which is no biggy. Then they should bolt right up. BUT his car is a 2000 SS. Mine is a 1994 Z28. So are the mounts the same on the LS1 and LT1 4th gens?

A) LS1's use a different backing plate (assuming the C5 calipers bolt onto them the same though?). They (backing plates) will bolt onto your LT1 diff no problem.
B) I don't know if I'd recommend "upgrading" to C5 brakes in the BACK of your car . With my stock LS1 brakes (front & back) I've had quite a few brake hop issues when doing HEAVY braking (on a race track, mind you, but brake hop nonetheless ). These cars already have more than enough rear brakes, and the fronts do the majority of the important work anyway. You're probably better off leaving the stock LT1 brakes, but if you only street drive the car?? Then I guess the bigger rear rotors would LOOK better .

If you have insufficient braking on the rear you will overheat your front brakes. I thought the backing plates on these cars where soldered to the rear...
I have the ls1 brakes on my strange... they are not installed yet, but i think i will be going with the c5s on the rears if they are a bolt on thing.

ya but in an lt1 car the front and back brakes are almost identical. I think the fronts are way under sized, hence why gm upgraded the ls1's so much.
I would just go aftermarket pads and rotors, that will be a big jump over stock.

The backing plates un-bolt and can be swapped LT1 <--> LS1. I have an LT1 diff in my car .

I would overheat my brakes in a snap.... Just a matter of 2 consequent brakes from 140-60... EASY.. I would have to let it roll a tad and then I could brake again...
I need more cooling on the front and I feel the front is doing 90% of the work.

Ok, I never said it was impossible to overheat your front brakes, but under NORMAL driving, they shouldn't! How about we re-phrase this though:
"If you have insufficient braking on therear front you will overheat your front brakes" .
"If you have insufficient braking on the
