C6 rotors with C5 brake upgrade?

C6 rotors with C5 brake upgrade?
Are C6 rotors compatible with the C5 brake upgrade? I also found GM part numbers for C5 and C6 rotors that are slotted and cross drilled. Anybody have them? Last question: Is there an upgrade for the rear brakes or would it be a waste of money? I have 17" WS6 wheels.
Thanks.
Thanks.

C6 Z51 cars have bigger rotors if memory serves... Not sure about standard C6 brakes. If they are the same size I see no reason to get them over C5 rotors though...I wouldnt worry about your rear brakes.

If C6 rotors are bigger than C5 rotors, they will obviously not interchange. Also, if you are running 17" WS6 wheels, rotors larger than 13" won't fit. I'm running C5 rotors with my LS1 calipers on 17" SS wheels and they are practically against the rim.

if you can take a C5 caliper and put it over a ls1 rotor, how is it "obviously impossible" to put a c6 caliper over a c5 rotor? you make now obvious sense. explain your theory.

talk about not making any sense. He's not talking about what caliper will fit. He's saying that larger diameter C6 rotor will not work in this instance.

Re: C6 rotors with C5 brake upgrade?
Ok, the base C6 rotor is dimensionally the same as the C5 and will interchange, though it has thicker "cheeks" (the outside surfaces are thicker, there is less "vein" area inside it). So, you can use the C6 rotor anywhere a C5 rotor will work and it should be more durable.
Now, the C6 with the Z51 brakes use a larger rotor. You can use that rotor with the C5 calipers and the C6 Z51 Pad Abutment Bracket (it spaces the caliper out farther to clear the rotor). You'll need a C5 conversion kit (other than the LG kit, that one won't fit without modification).
The C6 Z06 front brakes can also be used with the C5 conversion stuff (at least with the trackbrackets kit, it's already been done and it works) but you need the rotors, calipers, and such from the C6 Z06 and you just bolt it to the C5 conversion kit.
I hope that helps. I'm not on this board much, so if you have questions, you may want to send me a PM.
