Caliper Bolts and Bracket for LS1 Brake Swap???

I've slowly been collecting parts for the LS1 front brake swap for my 96 SS.

Instead of purchasing used calipers, I purchased new ones, sanded and painted them (look great!).

I've also purchased new LS1 rotors and used spindles, Hawk pads for all four corners (also changing the stock LT1 brakes out back with new calipers, rotors and pads...but not switching them to the LS1s as I've heard there's little to no gain in braking power).

Now, I'm getting worried here that I don't have all the parts.

Do I need different bolts for mounting the LS1 calipers to my front suspesion? Naturally, they didn't come with bolts b/c they are new and from Autozone. And furthermore, do I need any other bracket or anything for the LS1 spindles I have? I know I can use my LT1 hubs, but they didn't come with any hardware either and I'm concerned.

I need the switch badly and I wanted to get them on tomorrow, but now I'm unsure of all the hardware I may/may not need to do this.

Thanks,

-John

So I'm guessing I also need the "truck" that the caliper rides on to do this...right?

i think the bolts are fine. you'll need the abutment bracket though and they're about 50 bucks each...and you'll need 2. you'll also need the bolts to mount the bracket to the caliper.

if i were you, i'd get all new ls1 hardware from the dealer. new bearings too...they're notorious for going bad around the 75k mile mark and it's better to do it now than later. if you already have the ls spindles then start putting it all together. you'll notice immediatley what you dont have and it'll be an easy swap. just bust the ball joints and pull the whole spindle out...swap for the new one and get an alignment.

Re: Caliper Bolts and Bracket for LS1 Brake Swap???

if you bought new calipers then they didnt come with the caliper bracket aka the abutment bracket, and you need them

you have your spindle
and bolted to the spindle is the hub
you put on the rotor
then the caliper bracket with 2 big bolts
dont forget the caliper hardware, which includes the metal clips on either side of the pads and the rubber boots for the sliders
you need the guide pins/sliders dont forget to grease them
and then comes the pads the caliper and the two tiny bolts that hold the caliper to the sliders

then your brake hose with banjo bolt and copper washers

make sure you have all those parts for either side
i think you are missing the caliper brackets

Re: Caliper Bolts and Bracket for LS1 Brake Swap???

I AM missing the caliper brackets as well as the hardware that comes with them.

I think I'm just going to take what I have to the dealer and have them do the swap with the rest of the parts I still need. It'll be pricier than somewhere else, but I don't want to eff it up.

Thanks for the replies.
