Ceramic pads FTW
I browsed a number of threads here looking for a solution to the excessive dust on my white 30th Anniversary Edition wheels. I saw a referance to CarQuest Auto Parts ceramic pads. The poster indicated CarQuest's pads are Raybestos in their box. I went by the store and low-and-behold, it was true. $180 later, I think this is going to be the trick. Brakes feel stronger and dust is zero-minus now, after some pretty aggressive reel-ins. It will be nice to drive the car more than 10 miles before having to clean the wheels!

On first push of the pedal, the car feels pretty much the same. As the car slows, the stopping sensation grows -- if that makes sense. The other semi-metallic pads (OEM and Thermo-Quiet) were completely linear in feel. In this case non-linear feels better and stronger to me. I have no means to evaluate true performance, but color me happy.
It just dawned on me that I should have used Dynolicios to do some G testing before and after. Oh well.

Yes....ceramic is much stronger then semi-metallic. In fact they are stronger then your rotor which means bad news for your rotors, also, ceramic does not dissipate heat worth a crap so when they get hot, all the heat is pushed right onto the rotor (eg.....warping). I would go with the ferro-carbon, like the hawk hps pads, they are still much better then the semi-metallic as far as strength and less brake dust, but they are weaker then the rotor so your rotors should last, plus...the compound pads dissipate heat which is what you want in a pad especially if its a daily driver. I'm running them with powerstop drilled/slotted rotors and the stopping power is soooo much better then stock and the brake dust has been reduced about 50%. If you have a show car that you don't drive enough to where the pads get really hot, then I would go with the ceramic indeed. I got this information from Hawk themselves, when I was trying to decide which pads to go with and was a click away from buying ceramic, I decided to ask them. Give them a call and tell them what you want and they will tell you what they recommend.
Good luck.
Good luck.
