chassis mod recomendations

if you're going to do subframes and an 8 point cage, you might as well go all out for a full tube chassis. it would probably be cheaper overall anyway. also, then you can do a four link setup to solve some of the notorious launching problems characteristic to f-bodies stock suspension.

in no way what-so-ever would a tube chassis be cheaper...better yes but not cheaper.
i dont think you'll need both. i'd just stick with the roll cage. lighter and much more structually rigid than subframes.

well this is going to be a daily driver type playtoy not a full on drag car. the reason for the cage is more to mount 5pt harnesses and act as a roll bar. unlike some of the people around here i have no problems dealing with the door bar of a cage. i am considering getting the rules for bonneville in the 220 class but havent decided yet. overall this is a potential daily driver which means it has to be street legal, our emissions laws may be less stringent but none the less we do have some. any suspension info would be nice if yall have any.

all i can say about that is adjustability. the mor you have control over the more you'll be able to dial in. control arms, PHR, torque arm...you can completely set up the rear with an angle finder for either street or strip...with little more than an adjustable wrench and the angle finder.
about the roll cage...if it's just for the harness, i think i saw something that mounts to the seat mounts...it's a bar that follows the contours of the seat and has mounts for the harness. or, i know, theres a rear STB (pointless but it's for the seatbelts any way) that has mounting brackets for seatbelts. 200 bucks and a few minutes loosening the shocks.
do not mount the seatbelts to the seat's bolt holes. if you get in a wreck you'll break your back. you probably know this because you're looking into a roll cage...but dont do it.
you could get a roll cage with a removable door bar. it latches like the door and swings up...like lambo kits do. it's something to think about if you're in the mood for easy access into the car...and it could be adapted to the pass. side too for the lucky ladies that get to ride in her...

Re: chassis mod recomendations
how much have you looked into this? There is a substantial amount of work to be done to prepare for that. Several design considerations need to be addressed that are different from the typical drag cage.

Re: chassis mod recomendations
well when it comes to the cage i want something that is both nhra and bonneville aproved just because of the safty requirements . the stock speedo goes to 145 and with the plans ive got for the motor ill be capable of at least 200 so swing out door bars are out of the question.
