Re: clunk in rear

All 3 of the 4th gen camaros I have had make / made a light popping over slight bumps in the road. Bigger bumps did not give me the same noise. I could not be sure if the noise was front or rear. When I lowered my 2001 and replaced the front struts within the springs the noise went away completely. If you are positive the sound is from the rear then it won't be what i have had but it still could be those orange shocks if you still have factory.

yea its from the rear for sure. i kept thinking the exhaust was moving or something with the filler neck but its not either of those. im leaning toward the shock.

Re: clunk in rear

it definately makes the noise when the back of the car raises up like when braking.

If you find it isn't the shocks then I guess I would take a good look at the sway bar links, bolts and supports as well as the control arm bushings. Check the fasteners and moving points on the panhard too. If you're not positive it is actually the suspension then test your u-joints, axle and transmission mount when you have the car up on stands.

Re: clunk in rear

check the exhaust where it passes over the "tunnel brace". mine was hitting there after a catback install. also, right over the axle it hit the chassis too. some slight bending of mounting brackets fixed it.
