Coilover/new shocks?

I noticed that the ride is alittle rough but i figure its just really stiff and handles a lot better. Im pretty sure its stock suspension but whats the stock setup for the 87 Iroc Z's?
I've been reading and people are saying " I lowered it 2 inches and it scrapes once in a while but not all the time......." I have stock suspension and it seems to scrape? is this a sign for new suspension or something.

I mean, its always good to upgrade suspension along with power increases as i understand and I'd say with the power i have, i think i need some new suspension.. for a smoother ride also. dont get me wrong, i like the stiff ride and such because it handles awesome, but it seems like it scrapes just a little too much, after hearing people saay they drop it 2 inches and it scrapes alittle.. Mine is like an all out hit, so it just might be a little worn.
Any suggestions? should i coilover? or what kind of shocks are suitable? would a stiffer shock take care of this?
What should i get? I would like it to be lowered about 1-2 inches.
