Converting LT1 to LS1 Front Brakes
Excuse my ignorance... What CAN be reused out of this list?
1. 18060620 LS Knuckle
2. 18060621 RS Knuckle
3. 18042491 LS Caliper
4. 18042492 RS Caliper
5. 18060230 Rotor (x2)
6. 22163505 LS Brake Hose
7. 22163506 RS Brake Hose
8. ?? Caliper Mounting bracket with bolts (x2)
9. 7470587 Wheel hub (x2)
10. ?? Wheel sensor (x2)
11. Cottor pins
12. Brake Fluid
13. WD-40
14. Brake Pads (with metal clips)
15. 22145478 Upper Ball Joint (x2) (IF NEEDED - includes nut & pin)
16. 22156500 Lower Ball Joint (x2) (IF NEEDED - includes nut & pin)
I am not totally sure what the knuckle is... is that the big 18" looking metal piece that the rotor hangs onto?
I don't see anything mentioned about hubs or spindles?
I just bought a "Conversion Kit" off a member of this forum... but I just have the calipers, knuckles, and little metal shims.
Do you really have to do anything with the ball joints?

Re: Converting LT1 to LS1 Front Brakes
The knuckle is the large metal piece that bolts to the ball joints and tie rod.
If your conversion kit doesn't include the hubs just reuse yours. The abs sensor is built into the hub.
You will need the caliper brackets. I would bet they are included with your kit.
If your ball joints are in good shape there is no need to replace them.
You can reuse your LT1 brake lines. Use the banjo bolt from the LS1 calipers and new crush washers. You may have to bend the clip where the brake line attaches to the hard line down to get enough slack in the rubber line.
You will have to bleed your brakes. Don't let your master run dry when changing the brake lines or it will be harder to bleed them. Make sure the calipers are installed on the correct sides. The bleeder screw will be at the top.
