Do I need to upgrade my proportioning valve for C5 brake upgrade?
Hello,
I've been doing some reading and haven't been able to find an answer to this question yet. I talked to a vendor selling the brackets and they weren't 100% sure either.
With the bigger brake on the front and the stock rears on my 95 Z28, won't that throw out the balance between the front and rear of the car? Will I need a proportioning valve to adjust it, or will the extra brake up front be ok?

I did not install one when I did the C5 upgrade. I think if you really wanted to tweak bias for optimum braking you would want to install one. The thing you really want to avoid however is too much rear bias, and you're not going to have that problem with the stock rears. My stock rears can't lock up the 285's I've got back there at all. At some point in the future I'll upgrade the rears to something with more stopping power, at which point I'll install a proportioning valve.

I was pretty sure that was the case, but I wanted to be sure. Who's bracket did you end up using on your conversion?

I purchased UMI's C5 conversion kit which comes with their own bracket... it's a solid piece and I've had zero issues with the brakes so far (maybe 3000 miles).

When I upgraded to C5 rotors I with my LS1 brakes I actually removed the internals of the stock proportioning valve allowing equal pressure to both front and rear brakes. While I feel I need an adjustable proportioning valve installed onthe rear brakes to dial them down a little bit, it works verry well. Even better now that I changed to LS1 rear brakes.
