Do relocation brackets work?

Re: Do relocation brackets work?
i would start with lower control arms and a poly torque arm bushing. those two things made a HUGE difference in my traction. with shtty street tires i no longer got wheel hop...just spining all the way through 2nd gear.
with good tires the car hooked like crazy.
brackets will help alot too...but there are other things i would get first

Re: Do relocation brackets work?
I was going pretty consistent high 1.6s to low 1.7s to 60'...Added the Spohn relocation brackets and a torque arm (-2 deg pinion angle) and have not changed at all....I think I'm actually drilling the BFGs into the track harder and am overpowering them...If your car is not lowered do the basics first: good lower control arms, panhard bar, SFCs (welded), urethane trans and TA mounts, etc....looking into some 15" Bogarts and more tire. We'll see if my $365 was well spent.. Right now I'm not so sure...

Re: Do relocation brackets work?
Oh yes, guess I better go check out the suspension forum.
I have BMR lower adjustable control arms with poly bushings, a 1" diameter rear anti-sway bar and running 26 x 10.5 x 15 ET Streets. I can run a 1.52 60' or a 1.75 60' on the same night doing the same thing.

The relocation brackets are supposed to help you be more consistent. So far they haven't helped me too much, but like I said before I think I'm over powering the 17" BFG DRs..If I had a little more side wall, like from a 15", either ET Street or DR I might be of more help...Air bags are another option that worked very well in my 72 Chevelle...They helped me go very straight and even everytime...

Re: Do relocation brackets work?
The relocation brackets really helped my car, I had installed the Eibach drag launch kit and BMR adjustable TA and it was ok, the relocation brackets put me over the top.

Re: Do relocation brackets work?
Well i guess i'll take a stab at this since i just got done installing them today. This is with just brackets and stock arms (since Spohn sent me the wrong ones) Which makes me a little angry because tom is the last track day of the year and the point was to go out and have a good last run. BUt anyway.....
The stock F-body is kindof like Fat Joe's song "Lean Back". With the stock mounting point when you launch hard....the whole car leans back. Now if you drop those control arms all the way down let's just say it goes forward instead of leaning backwards......this feeling of going forward instead of "leaning back" makes the car feel better---I am unaware to tell if there is truely a 1/4 difference yet, but tom will be the test. I will let you know how it goes. It does however feel to have an advantage over stock mounting. This rocking is what makes car inconsistant.......I have cut 1.78 60's, but then again the next run might come up a 1.97 60ft. We will see if it helps my consistency.
I can say for one though it doesn't really help in the traction part very much. It did get rid of a small amount of wheel hop that i use to experince, but with my Vig 3200 and 3.73's it's just too much to stick with nittos and stock control arms and stock Torque arm.
The way i think of it now is......it kindof makes it launch the a Corvette.....nice and flat like a rocket.
In my opinion it is definately worth it.
