Drag Suspension: Which springs with QA1's
I'm looking for traction on street tires. I just ordered QA1 F series shocks and 300 pd springs for the front. Have any of you experimented with different springs in the back to get the most traction? Should I leave the WS6 springs in the back I have now or should I switch to the stock springs or V6 springs in back? Cut off a coil?![Smilie](https://www.camaroz28.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
Thanks.

Buddy of mine with an 8-second 30th SS convertible got the best results with my 94 Formula stock springs in the back, along with the QA1s. Worked better than the Eibach Drag Launch springs (which are now on my car).

Here are the spring rates for V6, V8, and WS6 as per WS6.com
V6 223 95.4
V8 292 114
WS6/1LE 360 130-180 Progressive
So I decided to buy some stock springs from the autozone down the street and the only info I can get on them is that they are progressive. I can't find the spring rates from any of the stock autoparts stores.
Has anybody experimented with v6, v8, and WS6 springs in back with the QA1's? Which one would give the best weight transfer and squat? I'm hoping I don't have to be the guiney pig.

Some of the best 4th Gen setups I have seen don't "squat" at all.... they lift the rear.

Good point. I just looked at the Sixspeedsinc 8 sec car and it doesn't squat either.

I have QA1 R series fronts and 275 lb springs...I run the 12 way SA rear QA1s with stock springs...I don't think you need to change the rear springs unless you go all out and get the coil over rear conversion...Ideally, you should scale the car and the weight distribution will tell you what spring rates to use...But as long as you have a good adjustable rear shock you should be fine with stock springs...You want to drive the rear tires into the track and not allow the car to squat, sending the tires up into the wheel well...Being able to stiffen the rear shocks will help you tremendously...
I also Like the R series over the F style because the Fs tend to be a bit bouncier...
