Brakes on a drag application can go lighter because they do not get anywhere near as hot in a 1/4 mile run as a set of brakes on a road corse. Drag racing is the only performance area where I would even think about going crossdrilled, and thats only for less weight.

You'll want a pad that has good initial bite at relatively low operating temps like the stockers or performance street replacements.
Now if you were continuously making back to back runs then you would beed higher temp pads.
