Cross drilled rotors were designed to help gases escape the rotor, but seeing as pads dont have this problem anymore, have long since outweighed their usefulness as far as performance goes.

I know a lot of the really high end racing teams use carbon ceramic brakes, and I don't think they run anything but a flat surface on the rotor at all.

Roc,
Go to pad manufacturer websites instead of rotor manufacturers and read. Modern pad materials do NOT have out gassing problems. If you don't believe us, then do yourself a favor and check out some of the roadracing or auto-x based boards.
The rotor manufacturers are saying all this to get more of your $. Its like the spark plug companies making all these designer elctrodes that cost $6/ea when regular copper plug work great at under $2/ea. Splitfire says their plugs will make more power, do you believe them too?

Show me a professional race team that still uses cross drilled rotors. I would really like to see this. Slots are not designed to vent gas. Look at the picture of the CTSV-R a few posts up. The car is running slotted brakes, but no cross drills to be seen.QUOTE]
have you ever heard of ferrari? lamborghini? porsche?....... FORMULA 1?

Theirs is a whole different class of braking. Their brake system alone is probably worth more than your car. F1 engine also spin to 20k RPM does this mean your needs to also?

Ok. I have no idea why you showed me the pictures of the slotted rotors, because I have said all along that there may be some merit to them, so it is beyond me why you are trying to prove to me those are on race cars.
My only question about the drilled rotor cars; what kind of race cars are they on, and how old are the pictures?

is the page http://www.billzilla.org/BRAKE.jpg is from. The guys just doing this as a hobby on his own personal project car (in new Zealand too ).
http://www.mogsport.co.uk/brake.htm
is where:
http://www.mogsport.co.uk/images/venteddiscs.jpg
is from, here theyre talking about dinosaurs 1960's racecars. Secondly they sell brake services/upgrades. Nothing about any modern race car using cross drilled rotors. Mainly just a picture to show they service brakes more than anything.
The rest are all slotted... as pointed out above that slotting does have its purposes. But finding slotted/crossdrilled racing rotors being used to doesn't seem to be an easy task
