e-brake help needed

i just walked out of the office into the parking lot and found my car resting nose first in the back of my buddy's '03 GT. The brake lever was in the engaged position...possibly one click away from being pulled too far back...and it also felt like it was putting tension on the cable as i pulled the lever up. the parking lot is pretty level so i didn't think of parking the car in gear and i would also think that it's too level for the car to roll anywhere even if the brake was "slightly engaged"...wtf

any suggestions on how to remedy this would be greatly appreciated.

p.s. both of the cars rolled away scratchless
