E-brake not working

Ok, so my ebrake hasnt been working for a while, so i put it up on my hoist and noticed that one of the cables coming from the rear passenger side brake was broken off the divider. So i put it back on, no problems, and now there is still nothing with the handle? You can pull it up with no resistance, any ideas? Thanks for the help, Greg

Re: E-brake not working

Theres an intermediate wire that wraps around the parking brake assemby, goes through the floarboard, and connects to another wire.

You need to find out if that is the wire to replace or the one that it connects too which leads to the wheel.

Re: E-brake not working

Sounds to me like one of the cables is broken inside the sheath; midway between the tranny and diff above the drive shaft is the yoke and you can pull on each cable end and see if they are still solid. There also is a e-brake travel adjustment http://shbox.com/1/adjparkingbrake.jpg

Yea i pulled on both cables and they are both tight? I dont understand why all of a sudden it stopped? Maybe i should just adjust it and see i guess. hopefully not smoke out the rear brakes.
