eibach

will a set of eibach sport-lines (1.8" & 1.5" drop) be okay with my 17 & 18" wheels? I got the wheels, and not likin the added wheelwell space that seems to be there. it seems to sit higher. will this drop be too much? or have others done it safely?

Re: eibach

It depends on the width and offset of the wheels, along with the sizes of the tires you put on them.

Re: eibach

Sportlines are known to ride bumpstops. Too low with too little rate = horrible ride.

Re: eibach

Still not enough data, need the width on the wheels - but if we assume its a 9.5" wide wheel, both front and rear, you will be OK with the 56mm offset as far as the wheels.

For the tires, you need the full tire spec, not just the width, to determine if the tire is larger in diameter than the stock tire.

A 275/35-18 would be slightly less than the stock diameter.

A 245/45-17 would match the stock tire diameter, but a 245 isn't recommended on a 9.5" wide wheel.

So, without the complete specs on the wheels and tires, there not much more anyone can do to help you.

Re: eibach

my bad. 9.5" wide rear 8.5" wde front 245/40/17 & 275/35/18 so about the same. it just seems to me that it looks like the car is up higher, or there's more room in the fender, but if the tires are the same diameter as before my eyes must be deceived by the low profile or something. just looks like it needs to be lowered. . .BAD. lol so, the sportlines are uncomfortable, and too low huh? what about the pro lines (or w/e the other eibachs are) or maybe hotchkiss? any others?
another question? what has to be done to the cambers once lowered? just a f/e alignment, or do i need a "camber kit" like some Honda people i know have to do?

*help is very appreciated. (tryin to get the car as sexy as possible b4 prom) lol

Re: eibach

A 245/40-17 is 1" smaller than the stock tire. That's going to increase the gap between the tire and the front fender by 1/2", making the fender look higher. You would use a 245/45-17 to match the stock tire diameter.

You should be able to get a good alignment on a lowered 4th Gen, without a "camber" kit..... those are for "strut" type suspensions, not the unequal length A-arm suspension used in the 4th Gens.

Re: eibach

i run the sportlines on my 95 vert, im complimented on the level look all the time. true the ride is far from the best, but if ure trying to get this ready for prom, im assuming ure still in HS, usually meaning comfrotability is not @ the top of priority list. im on 19x8.5 & 19x9.5 -275/30/19, since installing adj phb no rub and handles great for me. the ride is even more ruff, but not enough to bother me to switch. most ppl would recommend the pro-kit but if ure more concerned with looks, id say go for the sportlines. just my .02
