Eibach's?

I would like to put a good set of springs in the car. hope to see a 1' drop in height. is ride quality effected? I realize i will have less clearance, but is that a major issue? i never had a problem with the nose scraping...just the air 'scoop' and exhaust. also, who makes a better spring kit? i have always been partial to Eibach, but dont want to screw up the suspension.

if anyone can post some pics of a 98-02 (without any body kits please) with a spring kit that would be awesome.

Re: Eibach's?

We discontinued selling the Eibach Pro-Kit for quality issues. We were having to many sag over time. We personally beleive the Vogtland springs are the best for overall performance and streetabiltiy with H&R coming in second. The biggest problem with the H&R is the cost and they do not use the VVS Alloy to make the spring lighter. This is a pretty good link for seeing different springs.

Re: Eibach's?

The Eibach Pro-Kit springs are black.

I have them on both my 1997 SS convertible and my 2002 ZL1. Haven't had any problem with "sag" so far.

I posted pictures of my '97 SS in my original post above yours.

If you are asking for pic's of the ZL1, here is one of it.

We have installed the Eibach Pro-Kit on many Camaros at my shop (along with Cragar SS wheels ). Here are some other pictures of Camaros with the Eibach Pro-Kit that we installed.

When you lower an F-Body, you will certainly give up "some" ride quality. I don't think it is too harsh but these two cars are my "toys" and I don't drive them every day.

As for the drop. We have gotten between and inch and an inch and an eighth on each job.

You almost certainly will encounter some clearance issues. Just have to think ahead and watch ahead when you think you might be approaching a problem.

It all depends on your mechanical capabilities.

You will need a spring/strut compressor and various hand/air tools to complete the job. The rear springs are relatively easy. They take about a half hour to an hour to do both. The front springs are more complex. They each take about an hour to two hours to do depending on how rusted the nut is on top of the strut. The passenger front side is always rusted. We have only stripped one out so far.............but several of them have made us wonder. After taking the old spring/strut assembly out, you will need to soak it with penetrating fluid. If you car has any age and/or mileage to it all, you might want to consider replacing the front struts with some good re-valved ones. Will save a lot of time.

After this is all done, then the car will need to be aligned by a shop knowledgeable about cars that have been lowered and how it changes the overall geometry.

Cost? COULD be anywhere from $200-$300 or so for the springs plus if you replace the front struts, tack on another $100 to $200 plus the labor to put the springs and/or struts in and the alignment which COULD possibly run another $300-$400 (labor & alignment).

If you are going to tackle this yourself, plan on a whole day in your driveway/garage. If you take it to a shop, COULD take from 4-6 hours.

Re: Eibach's?

thats what i thought. my mechanical abilities are good. my tool selection is limited though. i was also considering picking up the bilstein II shocks to go with this.

if i were to taclke this...besides the spring compressor....what kind of tools will i need?

Re: Eibach's?

thats cool...i like my 10 spoke ss wheels...

back in the day, i had cragars on my 84z. that car was wicked. 355, cammed, holley 750 carb, shorty headers, no cats, eibach pro kit, t-5, hurst quater stick, bilstene shocks, 3.73 12 moser bolt rear. did a 12.2 @ 114. with minor traction issues

had the car back in highschool. this is why i wanted eibachs again.

r.i.p.
