Front pads soon....necessary to turn rotors?
I installed powerslot rotors and GM pads (maybe upgraded GM pads if they exist) about 35k miles ago. I am easy on the car and the brakes so they have lasted well through that time, no shaking or vibrating when braking at all. I cannot even see how much of the front pads are left because of the hangover on my pad (back ones dont have that hangover) but the metal scraper is not touching the rotor YET. I ordered some green stuff pads to put on the rotors, would just cleaning the rotors with brake cleaner be sufficient since I have no vibration right now? Or would turning them make a difference in setting the new pads?
Also people have said that brake bleeding is needed but I specifically remember just removing the resevoir cap and slowly compressing the piston with a large clamp. I think I lost a tiny bit of fluid and replaced it.
Finally, what IS the proper way to "set" new pads? I must have read 100 threads and saw different views on it. Most I see say that I need to make a few 60-0 hard stops, let them cool and repeat but I am not 100% sure. Thanks for any tips
, I have researched and read in the forum but I want to get answers to my specific questions.
