front or rear shocks

I am in the market for some new shocks and was wondering what was more important to have better front or rear shocks? I'm thinking of going with some kyb gas-a-just shocks in the front and rear, but if the front is more important to the handling characteristics of the car then i might go with the adjustables in the front.
