Front shock insulator

Do I need to include these, if I am replacing my shocks with Edelbrock shocks? The pictures sort of suggests yes, but the text sort of suggest no.

How about some basic info, like the year of the car. They built 4 different generations of F-Bodys over a 36 year period.

Why not add a "signature" with basic info about your car - year, model, engine, tranny and any major mods. That way when you ask a question, people will be able to help you.

Sorry.

99 SS, M6.

The insulator is the small piece between the spring and the shock upper mount.

On top of the spring between the upper mount and the spring. It is small #52 on GM's picture.

Edelbrock claimed it is not required, case close, thank you.

If it's what I think it is....then I think it helps to prevent water from moving down into area where the top of the shock is bolted to the mount.

It didn't really help mine from rusting together.

The diagram looks like it has the parts out of order.

http://shbox.com/1/front_suspension.jpg

On mine the "dogbone" (#52 ??) insert was located on top of the spring/shock seat, and helped distribute the load. I suspect leaving that part out might lead to premature tearing of the rubber around the metal ferrule in the upper spring/shock seat. When I installed my QA1's, I used all of the stock pieces.

Lightbulb

Everything from the upper mount on up you do need with the edelbrock IAS front shock/spring combo.
I have them on my car.

And Yeah, that black And white parts break down photo doesn't help at all, it's rather confusing.

Let me know how those edelbrock's work out for you. I've been interested in how they perform.
