Good shocks, no sfc?

Good shocks, no sfc?
Frist post, hope i do it right. I have an ,01 ss with the eibach sportlines, I hear a lot about changing the shocks. Should I get softer ones? Whos had luck with a lowered ls1. I want better off the line performance. I also read that you should install quality shocks even before SFC and not really worry about the SFC? Is this true? Witch ones? Thanx for any help

Re: Good shocks, no sfc?
Lowered cars and good off-the-line performance don't really go together. When you lower, it is good for the handling (if properly lowered) but bad for launching at the strip.
Also, Sportlines have a reputation of being show-oriented lowering springs, in other words they are more for looks than function since they lower the car way too much without enough spring rate which causes the car to ride the bumpstops way too often.
As for installing quality shocks before SFCs, I generally tend to agree with this. None of my cars have SFCs (I have three 4th gens), and they all drive without major squeaks or rattles even with 100,000+ miles. However, proper shocks can make all the difference in the world since stock DeCarbons are pretty bad. Now, if you plan on having 600 hp one day, and can hook up and shoot straight as an arrow out of the start line, then you might need the SFCs since you will be twisting the chassis quite a bit. Otherwise, mostly street driven cars will benefit 10x more from shocks, IMHO.
So, to summarize, replace your springs and get some good shocks to go along
Good luck.
