Handling with PA K-members

I heard both good things and bad things about these k-members. Some say that paint will start peeling and some say that it doesn't fit right. But hows the handling with these k-members? I do some autocross and I wanted to know if these are going to have negative effect on handling?

Re: Handling with PA K-members

Handeling is fine. I did not notice any differnce from the stock one. I have taken some fast turns at high speeds and it has not broken yet. All my paint peeled off . I had to re-weld one of the steering rack suports back on. I really dont think anyone should buy a PA K-Member. Oh ya had to drill an extra hole for motor mounts since one of the ones they drilled was not ever going to work.

Re: Handling with PA K-members

I don't think the PA was ever intended to be installed an a street car, let alone an Auto-X car. The ones I have seen had a terrible build quality, with horrible welds. One came apart on a buddy's drag car when it was dropped from a wheelstand. Look at the BMR unit, or the one that should be available (some day ???) from Spohn.

I think UMI has one, and Sam Strano had some input on the design, so that would probably be the best bet for Auto-X. Do a search, there's been a thread on it.

Re: Handling with PA K-members

I have an AJE K-Member. It bolted in perfect the first time and it still cleans up like brand new after 2 years. AJE uses a quality powdercoat on their stuff.

Re: Handling with PA K-members

The UMI K-member is $479. I did have input on the design of it, and among the differences you'll find are two cross tubes vs. one. Gussets for extra bracing, and larger alignment slots.

All the lateral force goes through the k-member, Given these cars can pull around .9 stock and much more with bigger and stickier tires, I don't trust a single tube k-member to be strong enough.

If you have any questions or I can be of any help, feel free to call me!
