hard brake line replacement problem

so the hard brake line on my car (not the z...) broke.

i bought a coil of 1/4" tubing to replace it but as i pulled the old one out i realized i measured the wrong tube. the brake line is actually 3/16".

how do the fittings on the brake lines work? can i just use the 1/4" tubing?? with the right fitting will it mate up to the soft line at the axle?

grrr....threw out the invoice and the mail order place requires that for returns.

Re: hard brake line replacement problem

IMO, you want to replace the line with exactly what was there. NAPA usually has all kinds of lengths of premade lines with fitting on the ends.
