Hawk pads

Hawk pads
Would just doing a pad swap from regular car part store pads to these be a noticeable difference even if i keep the generic rotors i have on there?
Ive noticed my brakes fade quite a bit and they arent that old. Help me out.

Re: Hawk pads
Yes.As performance pads warm up,they will actually grab better(reverse of fade upon heating).I've been running VGX pads and recently changed to Hawks and no difference in brake performance. The VGXs' are going back on as the Hawks seem to 'dust' more, not a lot more, just slightly.I've run OEM rotors and aftermarket crossdrilled rotors,no difference.

You will see a very slight improvement with respect to fading
with the Hawk pads. Not worth it in my opinion.
The best thing to do is get some LS1 front brakes, the improvement is bigtime. They are very resistant to fading.
Dont waste money on the dinky LT1 brakes.

Re: Hawk pads
ok, two very different opinions. Anybody wanna break the tie here?
The LS1 brake upgrade seems a bit complicated for me and probably requires new brake lines right? A little too advanced for me right now... although i would love to learn how to do it.

The LS1 brake upgrade is where it's at. No you don't have to change the lines, you might have to bend the plate a little, but plenty have done it w/o changing the lines. The swap isn't really that bad. The hardest part for me was getting the old knuckes off, but that was because I didn't have the right tools.
I have hawk pads on mine, but I put them on when I did my LS1 upgrade that included: Powerslot rotors, LS1 calipers/knuckes, stainless steel brake lines, hawk pads. So I can't tell you how much of a difference just the pads make.
All I know is that before I'd be scared to drive in the rain on the highway, now the car stops on a dime.

Re: Hawk pads
Depends on the heat range of the pad in relation to how hot your rotors are getting.
I was running Wagner Thermoquiets. I now have Axxis pads. Same sized rotors and the difference is night and day.
But yes, an upgrade to a larger rotor will be a bigger difference, but it also comes with a bigger price.
Sure I could upgrade to C5 rotors and see even better braking (and eventually will), but that would also be at least $350 more.
