Exclamation help me chose panhard bar!

Well, the rest of the suspension is all set up. What I have:
Spohn polly front mount torque arm
Lakewood traction action bars
Sphon 1inch chrome molly rear sway bar
SLP triangulated sub frame connectors

I was lookin at the BMR upper panhard bar too, PHR004K, but that bizzich is 220 bucks. I dont know if I need it for the magnaflow 3 inch cat back... I may not.

But, I am lookin for a panhard bar, adjustable. This is a DAILY DRIVER. I dont want the rod ends becuase I dont want to have to dick with this in two years to replace them. So, I think I want polly ends. Help me decide there too. I just redid the motor, dynoed at 422 rwhp, but I need a bigger TB and to finish the exhuast. Anyway, I would prefer an adjust on the car bar, but it doesn't matter. I need red. I know UMI makes only a rod ended one for adjustable. BMR has a polly both ends and double adjustable bar. Any more like that?? I need it quick!
It will be used for spirited daily driving, with occasional track use. Probably not alot of track use, I would rather be on the open road cornering hard and accelerating hard!

ANy input and experience is appreciated!

Thanks
Cody

Re: help me chose panhard bar!

The rod ends can't be that bad for daily driver use. Pretty much everyone on here seems to get it, and my own double rod ended PHB from GW is fine after more then two years.

I've read on here too that the harshness differance between the two kinds is negligable.

Re: help me chose panhard bar!

You don't need the BMR upper phb brace for a catback.
All poly phbs are more or less the same. Spohn makes nice stuff.

Re: help me chose panhard bar!

ok good to know. I drive this car alot, something like 10000 miles or so in a summer. I live in MN, so no winter driving. So, I want somthing to last, without ALOT of road noise. I can tolerate some, as the spohn torque arm makes some, but the polly front mount gets rid of alot from what I hear. So, I think I would want polly, but any experince more with rod ends lasting a long time? I live on gravel, so that dust might shorten the life of the rod ends too...

Re: help me chose panhard bar!

I don't see where you have it listed that you are lowered. This is the only reason you would need an adj PHB.

And I agree, you won't need the upper bar. My 4" pipe fits w/out it.

Re: help me chose panhard bar!

You won't need the upper PHB for a 3" catback, like mentioned above.

Also don't be afraid of rod ends, a good rod end will last a very long time. Since it seems you appear to like open track and hard corning I would highly recommend at least one end a rod end to help prevent bind. The PHB will poly ends on both ends will bind slightly...if you are going adjustable go with the poly on one end and rod end on the other.

Re: help me chose panhard bar!

As stated above, noise is not an issue with rod ends on the phb. If you want to go the rod end route, Unbalanced Engineering makes a nice rod end bar. http://www.unbalancedengineering.com/Camaro/

Re: help me chose panhard bar!

im not lowered. But, I was thinkin about making my own phb relocation brackets for better geometry, so I would need the adjustable one.

Im just thinking ahead for once!

Re: help me chose panhard bar!

I have a ploy/rod adjustable one from UMI. I could not tell any difference in noise or ride quality over stock. Make sure you get an "on car" or "double adjustable" PHB, then you dont have to remove the bar to adjust it. If you have big tires you will have to fine tune centering the axle, but it will only take 1 min if you have a double adjustable one.

Well, I was lookin at the BMR polly on both ends, double adjustable... would this be a bad choice for street use?

Re: help me chose panhard bar!

I am not familiar with the BMR adjustable panhard rod but I have seen some with the adjuster in the middle, if it is in the middle stay away from it as that is the location of the highest load.

Interesting! I guess I never considered that... So I want to get one with the adjusters on the sides next to the mounting holes??

So from what I gather:
Get one with one polly and one rod end,
must be double adjustable for least amount of headaches
and adjusters should be on the ends

Anything I missed?

Im still not too sure about the rod end for longevity.

Re: help me chose panhard bar!

I do have somewhat big tires... 295s out back on chrome Z06 rims. I had to "message" the inner fenderwell and collapse the spring towers to get them bad boys to fit nicely...

Re: help me chose panhard bar!

If you want the best for performance you should take a look at ours. We make these using very strong extruded aluminum tubing made to our specifications to allow us to thread right and left hand threads without any weld-in inserts. We also use a very high precision 3 piece aerospace teflon lined rod ends.
