Help me with my dilemma

I went to get an alignment today and come to find out I need all new upper control arm bushings and both the inner and outer tie rods! So I was wondering, it seems simple enough to do myself. But while I got all that disconnected should I put new shocks on as well as springs? My shocks have pretty much lived their lives out considering my camaro has 140K+ miles on it. What shocks should I go with? I was thinking about QA1 HAL 12 way adjustable ones. and also what springs? I dont really care about the ride height as long as they interact with the shocks I buy good.

Re: Help me with my dilemma

Ok I know Iam going to get MOOG polyurethane control arm bushings, and inner, outer tie end rods. Would QA1's be a good investment or should I get a different Shock?

The QA1 shock is more for the drag racing crowd; I ran them for 2 years and road handling really suffers. I'd recommend you go with Bilstein HDs with the stock springs.

Well I do drag race. are the bilsteins fine for that. or would the QA1's be better? I how bad is the ride qualtity of the QA1's compared to that of the bilstein's? What about the SLP bilstein I hear people talk about?

Do you trust the people telling you that you need all of those replaced?

Moog makes rubber bushings as far as I know, not polyurethane.

I would go with rubber bushings.

If you buy the entire arms from GM you will get all new bushings and ball joints already installed.

If you have any salt in your area you will likely need new upper mounts and the dog bone in the center of the mount. You may also have rust to fix under the fender. The shock nut and upper arm may be completely gone due to rust.

Rust might make it impossible to remove the old bushings, if you have the time I would tear everything down and decide what you need after that.

If you do some searching under my name and 1LE you will find all of the p/N's you might need.
