I need help ASAP!!

OK - Heres where I am at. I have been posting on 4 other forums and I am getting NOWHERE. It seems nobody can give me a straight up answer and know what the hell they are talking about anymore.

I have a 1995 Camaro, its my V6 project car (so it has drum brakes), and I have 4 stock OEM C5 rims from a 1999 Vette. They have a 61mm offset in the rear (I believe) and are 18x9.5 being wrapped in 275/40zr18 Kumho tires....I expected it to rub a little bit so I bought a pair of spacers for the rear and test fit again. As expected, studs are not long enough. Tried out some of those lug nuts that slide in to the hole of the wheel to grab more threads - dont fit the wheels. Now I am looking at buying some ARP studs because I expect I'll need them sooner or later and I REALLY dont want to hammer my car.. And I cant seem to find my stock lug specs and nobody at Summit Racing can help me out so I'm at my wits end right now. Dont tell me to go looking at performance shops and wheel shops -- been there, done that.... So please, help me as soon as possible!

Go buy some LS1 studs, they are 1/4 longer than the standard ones on disc brake cars. I did the drum/disc swap and found this out the hardway. There about 3$ a pop, so keep that in mind. Or you can go ARP, but those are alot longer and probably not needed. I can get a part# if you want.

In a way your lucky, because drum brakes on the rear are the easiest to change/replace. But you will have to hammer on the studs to get them out.

Heres what I did. I took the rear wheel off and put the spacer on (5/16") then put the wheel on and tried to put a lug nut on. There is just enough clearance to put the wheel on there but not enough to grab a single thread with a stock lug nut. 1/2" longer than stock MAY work, but is that the same knorl or whatever as the drum brakes?

Get the ARP's then, but you might have to pull the axles.

Dude..

Yes, I know. They are slightly longer than stock, and about the size of the ls1 studs. They are'nt desighned to do what your doing length wise.

Again, get the ARP's.

The threaded portion of the LPE knurled 12mm 4th Gen studs is 2.67", and they have about 0.60" of unthreaded "guide" on the end of the stud. They are just barely NHRA legal with my Welds + 5/16" spacer on the front wheels, buts that's with a shank style lug that is almost 1.5" long. When I have my "street" wheels on the car, the studs stick wayyyyy out of the lugs. The lug nuts in the picture were orignally a closed end, longer than stock nut, that was drilled through and threaded to accomodate the longer studs.

To be safe, you need to have AT LEAST 12mm of the threads engaged with the threads in the hex portion of the nut... the stud does not have to extend outside the nut. That will get you past NHRA tech, for example.

Thank you. Thats good to know.

What I'm trying to do is go for the all around car. I want it to look good, go like a bat out of hell in a straight line, and out corner a trout. The go in a straight line thing I've got covered with the motor I'm building and yes its a V6... The corner like a trout and looks thing is what I'm currently working on with the wheels & tires.

Those will fit my 95 right? Even if I have drum brakes in the rear?
