Inner Tie Rod End

What is an easy way to check to see if the inner tie rod ends need to be replaced?

Lift and support the vehicle with the front wheels off the ground. With the steering wheel unlocked grab the tire by the sides and move it in and out a little feeling for play. If you feel some play, take a look at the tie rods while someone else moves the play in the wheel. Sometimes you can see with your eyes whether it's the inner or outer. If you can't, grab the inner tie rod and feel for movement. If you can feel it move, the inner tie rod needs to be replaced. If not, the play is in the outer tie rod.
