Jounce Spacer?

I need a new jounce spacer (I belive that is what it is called) for my 95. This is the part that mounts to the frame above the rear axel so that the axel doesn't hit the frame under acceleration. I thought that slp replaced the spacer when they did the alterations and i doubt that they are still available thru them. Would a 96-02 WS6 mount work? And if so does any one have a part number? I have the pdf parts catalouge but can't seem to locate the spacer.

Re: Jounce Spacer?

GM Part: 1993-1997 rear jounce bumper #10164173 $13.52

SLP Part: 1993-1997 rear jounce spacer #80046 $24.95

The spacer goes between the bumper and the frame. I've never used the spacers but someone can give feedback of whoever has them.

That is called the rear bump stop.

If you have a 15mm aluminum spacer, then that was what slp added to help prevent tire rub.

I put 275/40ZR 17 on my Z28 and I do not use the spacer with no problems.

I would not run the aluminum spacer at all, just the standard Z28 bump stop.

There is supposed to be a WS6 bump stop, but it is shorter and stiffer. Frrax had a tread about it and they seemed to feel that the longer white Z28 stop gave better control, no sudden rise in rear stiffness.

The white z28 bump stops are what I am running. You can get them from GM parts direct, or any of the other good discount sources.

Jounce bumper is the correct term. It's on the rear suspension page in the Camaro parts book (Group 7. The Firebird book has this section missing. ).
