K-member question
Ok I am about to take my stock K-member out and I would like to know what the best way to hold up the motor. I am not taking the motor out so that is out of the question. I was planning on holding the motor up with a strap wraped around the block and a strut tower brace. I also plan on putting a block to holod up the rest of the weight on the bell housing.
Can a strut tower brace hold the weight of the motor???
Is there some type of write up other than the one from BMR??
Any help would be great!

Re: K-member question
when front wheel drive transmissions are removed, the engine must be supported , the way they usually are supposed it by being hooked to a bar that supports itself on the fender rails
basically it looks like a strut tower bar and it can support a 300lb fwd motor
if u tie a strap around ur engine and around ur strut tower bar, and u support the bellhousing i would say your safe
i would prefer to take out the motor

Re: K-member question
Ya I was going to take out the motor but if I did that I feel like I am going to open a can of worms. Any way, I just wanted to see if the strut bar is going to be strong anough.

Re: K-member question
its not terribly difficult to drop the k-member with the motor still attached, unless u've already disconnected most of the suspension, from the articles i've read its simply the wiring harness the fuel lines, ac compressor and the steering shaft, oh and exhaust i always forget about exhaust

Re: K-member question
Here's what I'd personally do. The car will have to be supported cause the springs will need to be removed etc. I'd only raise the car what is needed, I'd use a cherry picker to support the engine and then start unbolting everything. If you don't have your own, there are alot of places you can rent them at....that's the safest bet...definitely don't mess around. I would not trust a strut tower brace to hold up your engine...NOT a good idea! Do it the right way...you'll be underneath the car and engine....don't take chances!
