Re: koni install

I have a shock install procedure available. Its for QA1/HAL shocks, but the basic steps will be similar. I'm going to assume you have a 4th Gen.... if you have something different (you really should add a "signature" showing the year of your car, any major mods, etc so people can answer your questions more accurately) ignore everything I've posted

Re: koni install

Injuneer, thanks for the reply but I've got the spring/shock already separated from the 94z. Unfortunatly, I am unable to use your excellent write up on the Hal/Eibach install. What I'd really like to see is a write up on a koni sa install with stock springs , or even a pic of the shock assembly with koni's. Is the stock dust shield re-used ? I'm a newb at this stuff. It does not seem to fit on the koni shock! Will the stock spring hinder the adjustments of the koni? Thanks Dean .

Re: koni install

I reused the dust shield, because it also incorporates the rubber jounce bumper to protect the shocks from excessive compression. With the QA1 shocks, the rod was a little larger diamter than the stock shocks, so I drilled a larger hole in the dust shield so it would fit.

That only works with stock diameter springs, you can't do that with the smaller diameter QA1 drag springs, for example.

Re: koni install

Here is a decent write up http://www3.sympatico.ca/brian.mackay/Koni_shocks.htm.

The koni SA's should have come with their own dust shield...mine did. The install is very easy. You just have to take your time. I should have taken pics and did a write up when I did my install of the koni SA's with stock springs. And to answer your other question, the stock spring(s) will not hinder shock adjustment. If you have any questions or you need help just PM me and I will help out bro.
