Limitations of stock torque arm

Currently I have lakewood's boxed LCA's and panhard rod, eibach springs and Sens-o-trac shocks on my rear. I'm running about 375hp/400tq when im on the spary (not a huge shot of nitrous but it runs in the low 8's). what im wonderig is if i stand to gain anything by replacing the stock torque arm, as its the only piece of stock equipment on the rear end. I know some stock equipment can do its job just as good as an aftermarket piece, but would an adjustable arm change the bite of the tires when launching?

Re: Limitations of stock torque arm

If you plan on racing alot, it may be well worth it to upgrade your stock torque arm. Some people have had extensively modified cars and still used their stock arms with no problems, and others have had mildly modded cars and broke their torque arms. Its the luck of the draw I guess you can say. An adjustable torque arm will not only help traction, but you can get a crossmember mounted version which mounts to the crossmember and not the transmission tailshaft which adds strength. Spohn makes these and you can also get the option to add both front and rear driveshaft safety loops.

Re: Limitations of stock torque arm

Mine has a 3" crack and all the bolt holes are elongated. Best 60' was a 1.9...

Re: Limitations of stock torque arm

i guess i know what one of my next mods should be when i get a chance to start saving up some car money again. dont really have the time to go the track with college starting back, but when i do go to the track i like to push the envelope. i have seen the spohn and bmr pacages where you no longer have to use the bracket on the tailshaft, im leaning towards one of those because im running a th350 trans insead of the stocker automatic.
