Lowering Springs and Install Cost

Lowering Springs and Install Cost
I just purchased some 17" wheels so now I'm looking to lower my car. I have long tubes and already have an issue with scraping, what set of springs would lower me 1" or less? I'm thinking of adding a set of Bilstein shocks from SLP as well. How much does a typical spring/shock install cost?

BMR springs are rated at 1" i've heard they tend to drop a little more than that. I think Hotchkis has some 3/4" springs. My buddy has LTs and he just cut his factory springs until he got the ride height he wanted.

SLP has springs made to match those shocks. Don't know about the drop, though. Hotchkis have less drop than most.
The rear shock/spring swap is pretty easy, the front is a bit more work and requires a spring compressor and in all likelyhood an impact wrench since the top nut tends to rust up pretty good. I'd recommend having the front springs and shocks assembled by a shop. Also an alignment is a good idea after a spring install.
Injuneer has a nice write up on how to change springs and shocks on his website.

if you have issues now with lt's, i wouldnt do it at all. i have mids and i dont scrape (i scrape at the subframes instead of exhaust) much. but if you want to lower it, i'd go with a custom setup. talk to sam strano at stranoparts.com and he'll help you out.
