LS1 & LT1 front/rear brake weights???

LS1 & LT1 front/rear brake weights???
Is there a weight difference between a front and rear LT1 brake set up vs an LS1 set up? Just curious if one set up was lighter than the other or if there the same. Thanks.

Well I know the LS1's have bigger brakes up front, which should weigh more. And if they don't, it's more rotational mass. The backs are pretty much the same I'm pretty sure. I think they just remounted the caliper.

Re: LS1 & LT1 front/rear brake weights???
Anyone else have any input? Was hoping maybe someone that did the conversion put their LT1 and LS1 parts on a scale during the conversion. I though I read somewhere that the LS1 fronts with spindles weigh less then the LT1's. As you said, the LS's are bigger rotors, so I can't see this making sense unless there was weight loss between spindles. Thanks.

I'll be doing the conversion within the next few weeks... I have the parts, just don't have the time...
I'll try to weigh the calipers, rotors, and spindles to get the wieght difference... I am almost positive that the LS1 brakes will be heavier, bud don't want to guess at how much heavier... Also, the larger diameter rotors will not only add mass, but add that mass farther from the center of rotation...
I honestly don't care if they are 20 pounds heavier... I just want to have better stopping ability...

Re: LS1 & LT1 front/rear brake weights???
I have done the conversion.
The shipping weight for two LS1 spindles complete with hubs, rotors, calipers and rubber hoses was 104 lbs.
I have one of the complete LT1 assemblies from my car that's still together, so I'll try to weigh it next chance I get.
But if I had to guess, the LT1 setup felt heavier to me.
The LS1 spindle IS lighter, but that's becuase there's less material, because of the difference in caliper mounting compared to the LT1.

I LOST weight when I did the C5 conversion, because the calipers are aluminum(like the LS1), and you hack off a good chunk of the heavy spindle to get the aluminum Bob Bishop brackets on. I posted about it somewhere on this site a while back. I'll try to find it. The C5 rotor is an inch bigger than the LS1 rotor too.
I did gain rotational mass however, but I can't notice it, and it didn't effect my track times that I could tell.
