Increased pedal travel could be due to the LS1 calipers. Since they are dual piston, they probably have more overall piston area than the single piston LT1 calipers, which means they take more fluid volume per linear distance travel of the piston. This means the pedal goes down a little further. This is also why brake force is increased, due to hydraulic advantage.
The LS1 master may have a larger piston, but I'm merely speculating.
